The Sooke/West Shore Child Care Resource & Referral programs include:
1. CCRR Program Overview
- Our program enhances child care by supporting families and all people caring for children in the communities of Colwood, Langford, Highlands, Metchosin and Sooke to Port Renfrew.
- We work in partnership with other family support services to promote optimum development of children and the well being of families.
- We welcome Licensed, Registered-License-Not-Required, casual and occasional child care providers to access our services.
- The CCRR service provides access to our Toy and Resource Lending Library.

Wednesday evenings 4:30-6:30 at the Sooke CCRR Saturdays 8:30-12:30 at the West Shore CCRR

2. CCRR Services for Parents
At the CCRR, we recognize the hard work and challenges that the parenting role may bring. Therefore, we strive to provide information in the following areas: how to select a daycare that best fits your family’s needs, Affordable Child Care Benefit information, Resource Lending Library, and Toy Lending Library.
Affordable Child Care Benefit Information:
- You can obtain Affordable Child Care Benefit Application paperwork and receive assistance with filling out the application (either online or hard copy) at the Sooke/West Shore Child Care Resource and Referral sites.
- We can photocopy and fax applications and documents.
- If your License-not-Required provider is registered with your local CCRR, parents may be eligible for a higher subsidy rate. (Please check with your provider).

The EYPD Portal Early Years BChome - Early Years BC is an online platform for families, child care providers and the child care workforce to:
- Discover learning opportunities and professional development hosted by Child Care Resource and Referral service providers throughout B.C.
- Connect with a local community of practice
- Share or explore local employment opportunities
Job postings on the EYPD portal are managed at a local community level by the local CCRR. If you would like to submit a posting to the Sooke – West Shore CCRR for a child care position in the Sooke – West Shore region, please submit this form EYPD Portal Job Posting Form to Sooke-WestShoreCCRR@sfrs.ca .
4. CCRR Registered-License-Not-Required Child Care Providers
CCRRs are no longer recruiting and registering new RLNR care providers. RLNR care providers registered with the CCRR prior to March 2024 have remained registered and are on CCRR referral lists.
As an RLNR Child Care Provider, you may care for up to two children in your home, in addition to your own children. By registering with our Child Care Resource and Referral program you can enhance your business by accessing:
- support
- information
- training
- resources
RLNR care providers must:
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Provide criminal record checks for anyone over the age of 12 living in your home (CCRR provides forms)
- Provide a valid First Aid certificate
- Complete a Self-Evaluation
- Complete a Provider Interview
- Provide 2 character references (CCRR provides forms)
- Undergo a Health and Safety Home Assessment
- Complete the Family Child Care course or equivalent (minimum 20 hours of training) before or within the year of your registration
- Attend a minimum of two workshops for continuing professional development per year after you register
